Description:	Selenium belongs to the essential trace elements, i.e. to the group of metallic substances (ore producer) and is mostly found in plants in the form of L-selenomethionine. Up to 20 mg of Selenium can be found in humans, of which the main quantity is found in the muscles, whilst the highest concentrations are in the liver, kidneys and spleen. Selenium protects the body cells against oxidative impairment. Selenium helps to capture free radicals and supports the function of the immunologic system. The body requires Selenium for processing iodine by the production of thyroid hormones.
